Vignesh Ishwar is one of the leading young musicians of Karnatik music. Endowed with a sonorous voice and unforgettable presence on stage, his music is fresh, energetic and impactful. His uniqueness as a musician stems from an individual approach that combines sincerity, discipline, creativity and perfect shruti.

Hailing from Mumbai, Vignesh trained from a young age of 4 under the tutelage of Palakkad Shri T S Anantharama Bhagawathar. His music is steeped in strong foundation. Since 2008, he has been receiving training from Shri T M Krishna.

Vignesh has performed extensively in India and abroad. He has been performing regularly in the December music festival in Chennai in major Sabhas such as the Music Academy Madras, Shri Krishna Gana Sabha, Shri Parthasarathy Swamy Sabha, Bharat Kalachar, Nada Inbam, Brahma Gana Sabha, Thyagabrahma Gana Sabha, to name a few. Vignesh has won prizes in numerous competitions throughout India. He has numerous awards to his credit including the Best Vocalist Award 2015 by the Music Academy Madras, Spirit of Youth award instituted by The Music Academy Madras, The Times Thyagaraja Award, Dr Vasantrao Deshpande Yuva Sangeet Puras kar. He is also a recipient of the Government of India Scholarship for Karnatik music. He isa graded artist of the ‘All India Radio Chennai’ (AIR Chennai).

Holding a masters degree in sound and music technology, he has always desired to contribute to the world of art through the amalgamation of music and technology. He is currently involved in the CompMusic project instituted by the prestigious European Research Council, developing computational methodologies for analysis, archival and retrieval of Indian art music. His research has resulted in many publications in various academic international conferences and journals. Vignesh is also an integral part of many initiatives like Svanubhava, Urur Olcott Kuppam Vizha, Carnatic Music in Chennai’s Public Schools to name a few.
